In the field of multimedia learning, there is a growing need for studies that not only quantify publication trends but also explore the thematic evolution of the field. This study analyzed 7,412 publications indexed in the Scopus database between 2000 and 2024, employing both conventional bibliometric techniques and Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) topic modeling. Thus, it became easier to understand how the field evolved over time. The findings suggest that publication activity increased significantly after 2018, expanding into interdisciplinary domains. The LDA results identified four dominant thematic clusters. Despite a decline in popularity over time, the research area entitled 'Design and Development of Interactive Teaching Tools' remains the most popular. 'Interactive Video Applications Model for Teaching and Learning' stands out for its ability to adapt to various user needs and its evolution beyond basic information presentation. The topic 'Cognitive Effects of Visual and Text-Based Instructional Design' categorizes research on cognitive processes. Despite its limited representation, 'The Role of Educational Interventions in Medical Care and Education' is strategically important as it facilitates interdisciplinary multimedia integration in specific areas such as health, life skills, and vocational competencies. This study highlights the dynamic evolution and interdisciplinary nature of multimedia learning research.
