When we isolate the sentence from the discourse, only the tenses of the verbs could help us to locate the situation in time and it becomes impossible to understand the beginning point, endpoint or the time inverval of the event certainly. The reference points or time intervals could be determine exactly by analizing the sequence of sentences in the discourse. Discourse Representation Structure is a model of the temporal relationships holding between the various events mentioned in a discourse. In DRS the tenses of the verbs and Aristotelian classes are also important to locate the event in time.
In this study, the relationship of the discourse and time has been investigated based on DRS theory.
