Tri(2-methylphenyl)stibine reacts with [PdX2(cod)] or PdX2 (X = Cl or Br) to give the trans-[PdX2 {Sb(2-Me-C6H4)(3)}(2)]. The single crystal X-ray structures of trans- [PdX2 {Sb(2-Me-C6H4)(3)}(2)] (X = Cl or Br) revealed that the palladium atom is a square planar environment with mutually trans-Sb(2-methylphenyl)(3) ligands. Iodine analogous of complex can also be prepared from transmetallation reaction with sodium iodine. (c) 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
